Saudi security forces apprehend suspected terrorists September 28; further operations possible in the near term

A spokesperson with the Presidency of State Security announced on Monday, September 28, that security forces have dismantled a terrorist cell in two unspecified areas of Saudi Arabia, arresting 10 people and seizing large amounts of weapons and explosives. Three members of the group had reportedly received training from Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) while in Iran and the others were linked to the cell in various roles. According to media sources, the arrested individuals will be interrogated to find out more about their planned activities and domestic and international contacts.
Further counter-terrorism operations are possible over the near term.
