Israeli security forces wound four Palestinian protesters in Kafr Qaddum (West Bank) on October 9; further protests and clashes with security forces are likely in the near term

Warning

Event

At least four Palestinian protesters were injured by Israeli security forces on Friday, October 9, during weekly protests in the village of Kafr Qaddum (West Bank) against Israeli settlements and to call on Israeli authorities to reopen the village's main road. Troops reportedly fired rubber bullets and tear gas at protesters, who threw stones at the security forces. The injured were treated at the scene by local medics. Further sources indicate that dozens of protesters suffered gas inhalation difficulties as well. Additional protests were reported east of Beit Dajan, east of Nablus, on Friday morning.

Protests are likely to continue and a heightened security presence should be anticipated at protests. Localized disruptions should also be anticipated.

Advice

Those in West Bank are advised to monitor the situation, avoid all demonstrations as a precaution, and heed all instructions issued by local authorities.
