Gunmen kill dozens in Demniol, Bombofa, Peteguerse (Nord region) October on 14; further attacks possible

Unidentified gunmen killed at least 24 people and wounded a number of others during an attack in the villages of Demniol, Bombofa, and Peteguerse (Nord region) on Wednesday, October 14. The Communication Ministry confirmed the incident, noting that it happened ten days after gunmen killed 25 displaced people near the town of Pissila, 87 miles (140 kilometers) to the southeast. An investigation into the incident has been promised by the government.
Further attacks are possible in the region over the near term.
