Clashes have been reported and three metro stations were closed after protesters gathered on Friday, November 20, at 16:00 (local time) in Santiago's La Alameda. Protesters initially gathered in two groups on Friday in the vicinity of Plaza Baquedano (Plaza Italia) and in the University of Chile but both later converged at Plaza Baquedano (Plaza Italia) and obstructed traffic in the area. Authorities have diverted traffic and temporarily closed La Moneda, Universidad de Chile, and Santa Lucía metro stations.

Demonstrators demanded the resignation of President Sebastián Piñera and the release of individuals arrested amid previous protests.

A heightened police presence and localized disruptions are likely around protests.
