Security forces arrested 70 people during a civil society demonstration in the capital N'Djamena on Friday, November 27. Most of those arrested were released later on Friday. Participants had gathered near the FM Liberté radio station in the capital, and police reportedly intervened in the demonstration at around 10:00 (local time), using tear gas to disperse those gathered. Police claim that those gathered were in breach of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) measures restricting gatherings of more than 50 people.

A heightened security presence and associated disruptions should be anticipated in the vicinity of protest sites. Clashes between protesters and security forces are possible.
