Water disruptions are occurring in parts of Kuala Lumpur, as well as Gombak, Hulu Selangor, Klang, Kuala Langat, Kuala Selangor, Petaling, and Shah Alam areas in central Selangor State as of Dec. 8. The water agency Air Selangor said the polluted water supply at the Selangor River is affecting its facilities since late Dec. 7. The agency did not specify any planned end date for the outage; the disruptions may continue through Dec. 9.
Business disruptions are possible, especially for companies that rely on large quantities of water. Water supply and commercial disruptions may also occur in other parts of Kuala Lumpur and Selangor State.
Advice
Stockpile water. Minimize nonessential use of water throughout the rationing period. Water quality may be poorer than normal after service resumes; run taps for a few minutes before use.
