Activists plan to protest and march in Salem, Ore., US, 1300 Jan. 1 to demand that authorities lift COVID-19-related restrictions.

Activists affiliated with Oregon Women For Trump (OWFT) plan to rally in Salem, Ore., US, Jan. 1, to demand that authorities lift restrictions related to the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic. Participants will assemble in front of the Oregon State Capitol to protest at 1300, before marching to the governor's residence, Mahonia Hall. Several hundred people will likely participate in the demonstration.
Police will probably deploy to monitor the protest. Although the event is intended to be peaceful, low-level confrontations between demonstrators and police cannot be ruled out, mainly due to current COVID-19 restrictions on outdoor group gatherings. Localized traffic disruptions are likely around all large protests.
