Officials order lockdown Dili, Timor-Leste, through 2359 March 15 due to COVID-19 concerns. Plan for transport and business disruptions.

Critical

Event

Authorities have placed Dili under lockdown through 2359 March 15 due to COVID-19 concerns following the discovery of two cases in the capital. Residents must stay at home, except for urgent medical assistance, purchase essential goods and services, or travel to work for employees that must be onsite. All gatherings, including religious services, are banned during the lockdown.

Officials have restricted almost all travel, including air and maritime transport, from the city. Exceptions are possible for safety, public health, or humanitarian reasons. Increased security is likely to enforce restrictions; police could erect checkpoints on main entry points to and from the capital. Significant business disruptions are likely.
