Anguilla: Officials extend travel restrictions through April 17 due to COVID-19 /update 11
Anguilla extends travel restrictions through April 17 due to COVID-19; only highly regulated entry permitted.
Event
As part of ongoing efforts to limit the spread of COVID-19, authorities in Anguilla have extended existing travel restrictions through at least April 17. Under current directives, only pre-approved passengers who have tested negative for COVID-19 before departure may enter the territory; such individuals must also quarantine upon arrival. Workers engaged in cargo transportation and persons traveling due to medical emergencies or evacuations are exempt from the restrictions.
All incoming travelers, including returning citizens and residents, must apply for entry into Anguilla; issuance of entry permits is strictly regulated. Anguillan citizens and residents are allowed to quarantine on their property; however, authorities must inspect and approve the quarantined property before self-isolation. All pre-approved travelers from high and low-risk countries, as well as short-term business travelers (shorter than five days), are subject to the following entry and quarantine requirements:
Travelers must present a negative result from a COVID-19 test taken no fewer than three and no more than five days before arrival.
Travelers must present proof of medical insurance that covers the cost of COVID-19-related treatment for 30 days.
Travelers from low-risk countries are subject to a 10-day mandatory quarantine at a government-approved location, while travelers from high-risk countries must quarantine for 14 days. On the 10th day, travelers will undergo another test for COVID-19. There are no quarantine requirements for short-term business travelers.
Travelers are subject to mandatory COVID-19 testing on arrival, at the end of the quarantine period, or at any stage during the quarantine.
The government of Anguilla continues to urge the public to adopt social distancing and hygiene practices. Officials also continue to encourage businesses, facilities, and institutions to enforce sanitation protocols. Authorities could reimpose, extend, further ease, or otherwise amend any restrictions with little-to-no notice, depending on disease activity over the coming weeks.
