Event

Authorities in Mozambique are maintaining several COVID-19-related restrictions and measures as of April 1. Several restrictions remain in place, including a 21:00-04:00 curfew in the greater Maputo area (Boane, Marracuene, Maputo City, and Matola). The following measures are in place until further notice:

International Travel:

The government has allowed international commercial passenger flights; however, inbound and outbound flights are limited.
All incoming travelers must present a negative polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test taken no longer than 72 hours before arrival.
Travelers arriving by land are required to present a negative COVID-19. This will be valid for 14 days for those who require multiple entries over a short period of time. This also remains valid for those who are leaving Mozambique for no longer than 14 days. Sea borders remain closed except for essential freight transport.
Passengers who test positive upon arrival in the country or fail to provide a negative test result must self-quarantine for 14 days. Those who provide a negative test result are exempt from the quarantine regulation.

Domestic Restrictions:

Restaurants are permitted to operate 06:00-20:00 Monday-Friday, and 06:00-15:00 Saturday-Sunday.
Commercial establishments are allowed to operate 09:00-19:00 Monday-Saturday, and 09:00-16:00 on Sunday.
Restaurants are permitted to operate until 20:00.
Other than weddings (with a 20 person capacity), all private events are suspended until further notice.
Government events may not exceed 50 attendees.
The sale of alcohol is prohibited until further notice.
All cultural and recreational activities are suspended until further notice.
All gyms and sporting venues are closed until further notice.
All beaches are closed.
All religious services are suspended until further notice.
Schools and high education establishments are closed until further notice.
The wearing of a protective facemask is compulsory in all public spaces.

An indefinite state of public calamity is in effect. All restrictions are subject to amendment at short notice in response to government reviews. Security forces have been deployed to ensure compliance.
