Activists will hold protests against the presidential candidacy of Keiko Fujimori nationwide May 22. The largest demonstration will likely be in Lima. Activists will gather at Plaza San Martin at 16:00, march along Avenida Nicolas de Pierola, widely known as Colmena, to the Plaza Dos de Mayo, and continue along Wilson, Colon, Grau, and Abancay avenues. Transport disruptions are likely, and clashes are possible, especially along Avenida Abancay, where police will likely deploy heavily to prevent demonstrators from approaching the Congress building.

  • Cusco: Plaza Limacpampa Grande from 15:30

  • Huacho: Plaza de Armas from 17:00

  • Huancavelica: Plaza Carrion from 16:00

  • Huancayo: Estadio Mariscal Castilla from 15:30

  • Huanuco: Alameda de la Republica from 16:00

  • Huaral: Parque de la Cultura from 16:00

  • Huaraz: Plaza de Armas from 17:00

  • Ica: Plaza Sebastian Barranca from 16:00

  • Pasco: Plaza Daniel A. Carrion from 17:00

  • Piura: Plazuela de la Democracia from 16:30

  • Pucallpa: Plaza de Armas from 17:00

Localized transport disruptions and an increased police presence are likely at all demonstration sites.
