Event

Since 22:30 June 26, officials in New Zealand have suspended all quarantine-free travel from Australia until at least 23:59 June 29 due to COVID-19 activity in the country. Arrivals in New Zealand must undergo quarantine for 14 days at a government-designated facility. The government has requested that anybody who has been in Australia since June 21 to monitor their health, but has not required them to self-isolate. Authorities may extend the measure if deemed necessary.

Previously, authorities had suspended quarantine-free travel from New South Wales, Australia until at least 23:59 July, also due to COVID-19 activity. Also previously, individuals who visited a designated location of interest in Victoria, Queensland, New South Wales, or the Australian Capital Territory (ACT) at the specified time cannot travel to New Zealand for two weeks from the date of their visit to such a location.

Airlines will likely cancel some flights between New Zealand and Australia due to decreased demand.
