Warning

Event

Officials in New Zealand are allowing quarantine-free travel from South Australia, Tasmania, Victoria, and the Australian Capital Territory (ACT) as of July 5. Passengers arriving from those states must submit a negative COVID-19 test obtained within 72 hours of departure. Authorities plan to resume quarantine-free travel from Northern Territory and Western Australia from 23:59 July 9. However, officials continue to ban such travel from New South Wales (NSW) and Queensland until further notice. Arrivals from affected states must undergo quarantine for 14 days at a government-designated facility. The government is also banning entry for travelers who had been in New South Wales on or since 23:59 June 22 or in Queensland, Northern Territory, or Western Australia on or since 22:30 June 26. Authorities could alter arrangements at short notice.

Officials will likely cancel flights between New Zealand and airports serving NSW, Northern Territory, Queensland, and Western Australia through at least July 9, though some flights from Auckland (AKL) to those states may continue. Further extensions of the controls and flight disruptions are possible.

Advice

Consider deferring travel plans and check with travel providers for rebooking options if impacted by the quarantine exemption suspension. Follow all official instructions.
