New Zealand: Farmers' groups plan demonstrations in towns and rural areas nationwide from 12:00 July 16
Farmers' groups to rally in towns and rural areas throughout New Zealand from 12:00 July 16. Localized transport disruptions likely.
Event
Groundswell NZ, a group claiming to represent the interests of farmers, plans to hold protests in dozens of town and village centers throughout New Zealand from 12:00 July 16. The purpose of the action to condemn allegedly anti-farmer government policies and planned regulations. Participation will probably vary by location; however, it is unlikely that any of the individual events will draw particularly large crowds. As of early July 15, organizers have not announced plans for specific gatherings in Auckland and Wellington, though protests in those cities cannot be entirely ruled out.
Many participants intend to drive tractors and other vehicles in processions during the rallies. Localized ground transport disruptions are likely near all such gatherings. Security forces will almost certainly deploy to monitor and manage the demonstrations. Clashes are unlikely, though minor confrontations cannot be ruled out entirely.
Advice
Plan accordingly for localized ground travel disruptions and delays near demonstration sites. Leave the area immediately at the first sign of any security disturbance.
