Malaysia: Water disruptions could continue in parts of Kuala Nerus and Kuala Terengganu until Sept. 12

Kuala Nerus and Kuala Terengganu in Malaysia may see water supply disruptions through Sept. 12.

Informational

Event

Water outages are likely to continue impacting parts of Kuala Nerus and Kuala Terengganu after Terengganu Water Company (SATU) discovered a burst pipeline in the Terengganu River. SATU officials say repairs will likely continue until Sept. 12. The water outage is impacting 24 locations in Kuala Nerus and 11 areas of Kuala Terengganu as of Aug. 25. SATU and government officials plan to continue delivering water to affected communities for the duration of the outage.

The water outage could cause business disruptions in parts of Kuala Nerus and Kuala Terengganu, especially for companies that rely on large quantities of municipal water for their operations.

Advice

Stock up on drinking water and confirm alternative water supplies for commercial operations. Use only bottled water from reputable suppliers for drinking and hygienic purposes. Pressure and water quality may be poor after service resumes; run taps for several minutes before using water. Minimize nonessential water use throughout the outage.
