Authorities in Mozambique maintain eased COVID-19 domestic measures as of August 30. Nightly 22:00-04:00 in place nationwide.
Event
Authorities have eased domestic COVID-19-related measures nationwide in late August.
Domestic Restrictions
The curfew remains in place in all cities and towns but has been eased; it runs from 22:00-04:00.
School classes are allowed to resume.
Supermarkets may now open 09:00-18:00 Monday-Saturday, and 09:00-17:00 on Sundays and public holidays. Other commercial establishments and services are allowed to operate 09:00-18:00 and have to close on Sundays and holidays.
Restaurants may now operate from 06:00-20:00 daily. Bakeries and convenience stores can operate from 06:00-19:00.
Religious services, conferences, and celebrations are suspended, except weddings, which are limited to 20 participants.
Meetings in public and private institutions can resume without exceeding 20 percent of a venue's capacity.
Gyms, casinos were also allowed to reopen. Large gyms are restricted to operating at no more than 25 percent of their capacity and medium-sized gymnasiums at 10 percent. Small gymnasiums remain closed.
All private social events remain prohibited throughout the country.
Government office hours are back to normal, operating 07:30-15:30.
International Travel
All international arrivals in Mozambique must present a negative result from a COVID-19 PCR test taken no more than 72 hours before departure for the country, irrespective of vaccination status. Children under five years old are exempt.
For travelers arriving in Mozambique via land border crossings, the negative test result remains valid for seven days, permitting multiple entries or short-term return travel.
Passengers who test positive upon or fail to provide a negative test result must self-quarantine for 14 days. Those who provide a negative test result are exempt from quarantine.
All restrictions are subject to amendment at short notice in response to government reviews. Security forces are deployed to ensure compliance.
Advice
Follow all official instructions. Abide by national health and safety measures. Reconfirm all travel arrangements and requirements before departing. Consider delaying traveling if experiencing symptoms associated with COVID-19, as they may prompt increased scrutiny and delays. Liaise with trusted contacts for further updates and guidance. Maintain contact with your diplomatic representation. Ensure contingency plans account for further disruptive measures or extensions of current restrictions.
