Saint Lucia: Authorities tighten curfew hours through Sept. 7 and maintain other COVID-19-related restrictions /update 32

Saint Lucia introduces stricter curfew hours through Sept. 7; other COVID-19-related restrictions remain in effect.

Warning

Event

Authorities in Saint Lucia have tightened their existing COVID-19-related curfew through the morning of Sept. 7. Under the new directives, a nightly 19:00-04:00 curfew is in effect through Friday, Sept. 3. Beginning Saturday, Sept. 4, the curfew will run from 16:00 through 04:00 Monday, Sept. 6, effectively creating a 24-hour curfew on Sunday.

The 19:00-04:00 weekday curfew will then resume through the morning of Tuesday, Sept. 7. Business establishments must close one hour before the curfew takes effect. Residents may not leave their homes during curfew hours except to attend to critical matters and engage in essential work duties.

Officials have banned all social gatherings between members of different households. Social activities involving members of the same household are limited to 10 people.

International Travel
All travelers aged five and over are required to produce a negative result from a COVID-19 PCR test taken no more than five days before arrival. Travelers aged 18 and over must also complete a Travel Registration document seven days or more before departure. Arriving travelers are also subject to medical screening. Passengers in transit with a same-day onward journey do not require travel authorization. Importantly, officials no longer utilize the CARICOM travel bubble scheme for neighboring Caribbean countries.

Other restrictions depend on the traveler's residency and vaccination status:

  • Vaccinated Travelers: All persons who have proof of having received their final dose of a COVID-19 vaccine at least 14 days before arrival are exempt from quarantine controls, but must still stay at a COVID-19-certified accommodation. Unvaccinated minors who are accompanied by their fully vaccinated parents will be required to take a COVID-19 test either on arrival (residents) or the day following their arrival (non-residents), and will need to quarantine until receipt of a negative result.

  • Unvaccinated Returning Nationals and Residents: All unvaccinated Saint Lucia nationals and residents must complete a 14-day quarantine. Quarantine arrangements at a COVID-19-certified accommodation or government-operated quarantine facility must be confirmed before travel. Authorities will administer a PCR test to said individuals on day seven of their stay in the country. Individuals who test negative for COVID-19 may be allowed to spend the remainder of the mandatory quarantine period at a personal residence. Applications for home quarantine approval for the entirety of the quarantine are also possible in limited circumstances.

  • Unvaccinated International Travelers: Travelers who have not been vaccinated against COVID-19 are required to remain at their COVID-19-certified accommodations for the duration of their stay or for 14 days, whichever is shorter. Visitors may leave the certified property and travel freely after 14 days.

Authorities could reimpose, extend, ease, or otherwise amend restrictions with little-to-no notice, depending on disease activity over the coming weeks.
