South Korea to slightly ease Level-4 rules in Greater Seoul Sept. 6-Oct. 3. Disruptions likely to continue.
Event
Authorities in South Korea will slightly ease Level-4 COVID-19 restrictions in Greater Seoul, including Incheon and Gyeonggi Province, Sept. 6-Oct. 3. The local government will allow restaurants to operate until 22:00 daily. Additionally, the limit for gatherings at homes and restaurants will increase to six people before 18:00, provided that at least two individuals are fully vaccinated or four fully vaccinated people after 18:00. However, authorities will provide an exemption during the Chuseok holidays Sept. 17-23, when up to eight can gather at residences if at least four people are fully vaccinated.
Other rules remain in place. Demonstrations, except for one-person rallies, are still banned. Most businesses in Greater Seoul can operate on-site at reduced capacities, with an exception for manufacturers. Authorities limit booking at hotels to two-thirds of capacity, and accommodations cannot host events for guests. Entertainment businesses, including nightclubs and pubs, remain closed, and spectators cannot attend sporting events. A facemask requirement remains in effect for all residents, regardless of vaccination status.
Authorities will probably continue to maintain tightened security measures, such as deploying additional personnel, in Greater Seoul through at least Oct. 3. Transport and business disruptions are likely to continue.
