South Korea: Metro staff in Seoul call off planned strike Sept. 14 /update 1
Metro staff in Seoul, South Korea, cancel planned strike Sept. 14. Normal services likely.
Event
Unionized metro workers in Seoul have canceled a planned indefinite strike Sept. 14. The staff agreed to call off the action after the metro operators withdrew a plan to lay off more than 1,500 employees. While metro unions in Busan, Daegu, Daejeon, Gwangju, and Incheon had initially intended to strike in solidarity with the Seoul metro union, the action is unlikely to proceed following the cancelation of the work stoppage in Seoul.
Normal services are likely in Busan, Daegu, Daejeon, Gwangju, Incheon, and Seoul.
