Local reports indicate an explosion occurred at an apartment block along Ovre Husargatan in the Annadel district in central Gothenburg at around 05:00 Sept. 28. The incident has resulted in at least 23 injuries. Emergency crews have evacuated over a hundred residents from nearby buildings as a precaution, and firefighting operations are reportedly still ongoing as of 08:00. The cause of the blast is not immediately clear.
Heightened security, as well as localized business and transport disruptions, are likely in the coming hours as emergency response and investigations continue.
