North Macedonia: Government maintaining COVID-19-related entry restrictions as of Oct. 4 /update 39
North Macedonia maintaining COVID-19-related restrictions as of Oct. 4; disruptions likely.
Event
Authorities in North Macedonia are maintaining the country's COVID-19-related restrictions. All persons arriving in or leaving the country must present either a negative result from a COVID-19 test taken within the previous 72 hours, proof of full vaccination, or proof of having recovered from COVID-19 within the previous 45 days. Foreigners are allowed to transit without these documents provided they leave North Macedonia within five hours after arrival. Land borders are open and international flights are operating, albeit on reduced schedules. Individuals arriving by air may be subject to health screening on arrival and may have to undergo quarantine measures if displaying COVID-19 symptoms.
Domestic Restrictions
All persons are required to show proof of having received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine or having recovered from COVID-19 within the last 45 days to enter bars, restaurants, or cafes, as well as to attend any type of event including conferences, training sessions, workshops, and celebrations.
Most businesses and facilities are permitted to operate, provided they implement certain hygiene and social distancing measures. Facemasks must be worn in indoor public spaces. Organized outdoor events are allowed at 30 percent of the venue's occupancy capacity, up to a cap of 1,000 people. Restaurants, bars, and cafes are allowed to operate their outdoor areas.
Authorities could extend, ease, or otherwise amend any restrictions with little-to-no notice, depending on disease activity over the coming weeks.
