Nigeria: Nigerian Railway Corporation suspends rail services on Abuja-Kaduna line indefinitely following Oct. 20 explosives attack

Nigerian Railway Corporation suspends train services between Abuja and Kaduna indefinitely after Oct. 20 explosives attack.

Warning

Event

The Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) suspended train services indefinitely on the company's Abuja-Kaduna route Oct. 21 following an attack targeting the line. Unidentified assailants reportedly detonated an explosive device along the rail line between Rijana and Dutse on Oct. 20, damaging the track and preventing the AK9 train from continuing to its destination at Kaduna. NRC officials have refuted initial uncorroborated reports that attackers also opened fire on the train. There have been no casualties reported.

Advice

Reconfirm NRC passenger and freight rail transport schedules over the coming days, particularly along the Abuja-Kaduna line. Plan accordingly for disruptions; consider alternative transport for critical travel and freights until service is fully restored.
