Some participants have called for President Lazarus Chakwera's resignation. Security forces have been deployed to monitor all protests, though there have been no reports of violence.

Authorities may maintain a heightened security presence over the coming weeks to monitor for additional protests and associated disruptions. Protests may lead to transport and business disruptions. Clashes between protesters and security forces cannot be discounted.
