Warning

Event

Protests are likely in Kenosha, Wisconsin, following the Nov. 19 acquittal of Kyle Rittenhouse, an individual who fatally shot two people and injured another during a 2020 protest. Transport and business disruptions are likely near any demonstrations that may materialize; violent incidents, including looting, vandalism, and clashes between police and protesters cannot be completely ruled out. While demonstrations are most likely near the Kenosha County Courthouse, they could also take place in other areas of the city, including outside police precincts.

A major deployment of police will almost certainly occur throughout the city. Approximately 500 National Guard troops have also been placed on standby to assist local authorities if required. Authorities may impose curfews or deploy additional troops if violence occurs.

Avoid all demonstrations as a precaution; exit the area immediately at the first sign of any confrontation or other security disturbance. Allow additional time to reach destinations near any likely protest sites.
