Timor-Leste: Authorities continue to enforce COVID-19 restrictions as of Dec. 28 /update 46
Timor-Leste continues to enact COVID-19 protocols as of Dec. 28. International travel restrictions remain in place.
Event
Officials continue to implement COVID-19 curbs as of Dec. 28. Individuals must either be fully vaccinated or present a negative COVID-19 test result taken within the previous five days to access some administrative services. Authorities continue to require people to wear facemasks, frequently sanitize their hands, and maintain a 1-meter (3-feet) distance from others when in public. A ban on gatherings is likely in place. Funerals of government workers in state buildings are prohibited. The government may reintroduce the stricter measures in some localities at short notice, depending on changes in COVID-19 activity.
International Travel Restrictions
Authorities continue to suspend entry for most foreigners. Exemptions are in place for diplomatic personnel, members of international organizations and bilateral cooperation agencies, petroleum sector workers, and medical emergencies. Fully vaccinated entrants may be exempted from quarantine but must take a COVID-19 test within 48 hours after arrival in Timor Leste. Officials require permitted travelers who are not fully vaccinated to present a negative COVID-19 test result, quarantine for 14 days in either designated facilities or their residence, and obtain a negative result from a COVID-19 test before leaving quarantine.
Advice
Follow all official instructions. Reconfirm all travel arrangements. Maintain contact with your diplomatic representation. Ensure contingency plans account for further disruptive measures or extensions of current restrictions. Reconsider and reconfirm nonemergency health appointments. Plan for queues and delays at available shopping centers. Plan for possible ground shipping and travel delays; seek alternative routes and shipping methods for time-sensitive cargo.
