Event
As of Jan. 20, authorities are maintaining restrictions implemented to curb the spread of COVID-19.
Domestic Measures
Minimal domestic restrictions remain in place following the easing of measures in recent months. Social distancing measures, including the use of protective facemasks, are compulsory in all public spaces and public transportation, though this measure is not strictly enforced. A security-related state of emergency and 22:00-05:00 curfew are in place.
International Travel Restrictions
Passenger flights at Bangui-M'poko International Airport (BGF) in Bangui are ongoing. However, travelers arriving in the Central African Republic (CAR) and showing signs of infection may be required to take a COVID-19 test. The Pasteur Institute is the primary COVID-19 testing facility in the country. All travelers must present a negative test certificate taken no more than 72 hours before boarding. Temperature checks are in place upon arrival; travelers will be asked to complete a health form and be required to self-isolate for up to 14 days upon arrival. Some land borders are reportedly open.
All restrictions are subject to amendment at short notice in response to government reviews and may receive updates or extensions in the coming days.
