The Nigeria Labour Congress (NCL) announced Jan. 25 the suspension of planned nationwide protests Jan. 27 and Feb. 2 after the government agreed to maintain current fuel subsidies. NCL leaders stated that they will continue to engage with the government on critical issues.

Further protests are possible in the future if the government decides to end fuel subsidies.
