Reunion: Authorities amend COVID-19-related curfew as of Feb. 22 /update 7

Authorities in Reunion amend curfew as of Feb 22. Other domestic COVID-19 restrictions remain in place.

Authorities have amended the 21:00-05:00 curfew as of Feb. 22; the curfew now applies 23:00-05:00. During curfew hours, individuals must have a compelling reason to leave their place of residence. Other domestic restrictions remain in place.

Domestic Measures

  • A vaccination pass is mandatory to access leisure and culture venues, bars and restaurants, hotels, concerts, festivals, stadiums and gyms, and health care services.   • Restaurants, bars, cinemas, museums, and other cultural spaces can operate at 75-percent capacity. Nightclubs remain closed.

  • Facemasks remain compulsory for persons over 11 years old in public areas, in outdoor spaces, and enclosed spaces but are not required during open-air public events, in natural spaces (beaches, forests, parks), during outside sporting activities, and in outdoor establishments subject to a health pass.

International Travel Restrictions
All travelers must present a negative antigen or PCR test result issued no more than 24 hours before departure. All unvaccinated arrivals must have a compelling reason for their trip, such as important family, personal, or professional business, or a medical emergency. Vaccinated travelers are not required to provide a compelling reason. All arriving travelers will be tested on arrival and required to self-isolate for seven days.

All travelers leaving the island for mainland France must also present a negative result from a PCR test taken no more than 72 hours before boarding or an antigen test taken 48 hours before boarding. Unvaccinated individuals must produce a compelling reason for travel; they will be required to self-isolate seven days on arrival.

Authorities could reimpose, extend, ease, or otherwise amend any restrictions with little-to-no notice depending on disease activity over the coming weeks.

Follow all official instructions. Abide by national health and safety measures. Confirm all travel arrangements well before departure. Consider delaying traveling if experiencing symptoms associated with COVID-19, as they may prompt increased scrutiny and delays. Liaise with trusted contacts for further updates and guidance.
