Informational

Event

Periods of reduced internet speeds are likely in Papua New Guinea through at least May 15. The internet service provider PNG DataCo attributed the disruptions to decreased bandwidth following damage to the Coral Sea Cable System (CS2) undersea cable. Restoration works are ongoing.

Internet users will probably continue to experience slow internet speeds and connectivity issues until the operators complete the cable repair activities. Communication and business disruptions are possible.

Advice

Plan for possible communication and business disruptions through at least May 15. Consider alternative modes of communication, such as satellite connections, for critical business operations.
