Activists affiliated with the opposition political alliance Yewwi Askan Wi will gather at Place de l'Obelisque (also called Place de la Nation) in Dakar 15:00-19:00 June 8. The event was originally scheduled for June 3, but authorities did not grant permission for it to go ahead, organizers have postponed the event until June 8, though authorities have yet to sanction it. The action comes after authorities rejected the list of Yewwi Askan Wi candidates for the upcoming July legislative elections.

The event may draw hundreds of participants, likely causing road transport delays in the vicinity of the gathering. Police forces will likely deploy to monitor the protest.
