Morocco: Airport workers to hold nationwide strike June 15-19

Airport workers in Morocco to hold nationwide strike June 15-19. Confirm flights.

Warning

Event

Airport workers in Morocco affiliated with the Democratic Confederation of Labour (CDT) have announced plans for a nationwide five-day strike beginning June 15. The purpose of the labor action is to demand better pay and working conditions. Striking workers will likely hold demonstrations near airports, specifically Mohammed V Airport (CMN) in Casablanca, as well as public squares, and government buildings.

Unless averted, the labor action will almost certainly disrupt airport operations. Slower check-ins, baggage retrievals, and security procedures are likely; flight delays and cancellations are also likely. Residual disruptions could continue after the strike ends as airport authorities work to clear any passenger backlogs.

Advice

Confirm flight status before setting out for the airport. Do not check out of accommodations until onward travel is confirmed. Allow additional time for check-in, baggage retrieval, and clearing security during the strike. Avoid all protests.
