India: Indian National Congress (INC) to protest at Enforcement Directorate offices June 13

Indian National Congress (INC) to protest in cities across India June 13. Increased security likely; disruptions, clashes possible.

Warning

Event

The Indian National Congress (INC) party will protest outside Enforcement Directorate (ED) offices nationwide June 13 when INC leader Rahul Gandhi will appear for an inquiry into money laundering charges at the Delhi ED office. Organizers are condemning the investigation as a political vendetta by the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). The largest rally will occur 09:00 in Delhi, when INC lawmakers will march from the All India Congress Committee office along Akbar Road to the ED headquarters. Other protest locations include Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Bhubaneshwar, Chandigarh, Chennai, Dehradun, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Indore, Jaipur, Jalandhar, Jammu, Kochi, Kolkata, Kozhikode, Lucknow, Madurai, Mangaluru, Mumbai, Nagpur, Panaji, Patna, Prayagraj, Raipur, Ranchi, Shimla, Srinagar, Surat, and Vishakhapatnam. Dozens of people may join each event.

Security personnel will likely deploy to monitor protests and may use force to disperse gatherings. Clashes between protesters and police are possible, especially if demonstrators attempt to breach security cordons. Protesters may march along or block roadways near ED offices, causing localized transport disruptions.

Advice

Avoid protests due to possible violence. If clashes break out, leave the area immediately and take shelter in a secure, nongovernmental building. Allow additional travel time near gatherings. Monitor local media or check with trusted local contacts for updates on any protests, as organizers may not provide details in advance. Heed all security and traffic advisories.
