Iraq: Peshmerga counterterrorism forces deploy to Khor Mor gas field in Suleimaniyah Governorate June 25 following several rocket attacks /update 1

Kurdish authorities in northern Iraq deployed Peshmerga counterterrorism forces to the Khor Mor gas field in Suleimaniyah Governorate as of June 25. The action comes after a number of rocket attacks have targeted the gas field in recent days, including one that caused an explosion outside of the field June 25 as well as a June 24 attack that reportedly caused a fire at the facility. No militia or militant group has yet claimed responsibility for the series of attacks.

Localized transport disruptions are likely around the impacted area over the coming days. Additional attacks targeting military installations and critical infrastructure sites cannot be ruled out.
