Nicaragua: COVID-19-related restrictions eased as of mid-July /update 22

Officials in Nicaragua have eased the country's COVID-19 travel restrictions as of mid-July.

Warning

Event

As of mid-July, authorities in Nicaragua have eased the country's COVID-19-related travel measures. Under the current directives, fully vaccinated travelers do not need to show proof of a negative COVID-19 test. Other measures remain unchanged.

Domestic Measures
There are no significant restrictions on domestic movements and business operations.

International Travel Restrictions
Travelers who are fully vaccinated against COVID-19 and can present proof of being fully vaccinated no longer need a COVID-19 pre-travel test to enter Nicaragua. Unvaccinated travelers must continue to show proof of a negative COVID-19 test taken within 72 hours prior to entering the country.

Nonresident foreign nationals displaying symptoms of COVID-19 are prohibited from entering Nicaragua; citizens and legal residents who show symptoms must self-quarantine.

Augusto C. Sandino International Airport (MGA) in Managua remains open; cargo and domestic flights continue to operate. Flights to and from Nicaragua remain relatively limited due to the pandemic. Avianca Airlines (AV), Copa Airlines (CM), Conviasa (V0), Aeromexico (AM), Aruba Airlines (AG), and Sky High (DO) continue to operate a limited number of international flights each week.

Heightened screening measures at land borders could cause some delays to cargo transportation and other cross-border travel. All measures are subject to change at short notice.

Advice

Follow all official instructions. Reconfirm all travel arrangements. Plan for potential cross-border travel delays.
