Emergency crews are responding to an explosion at an unidentified construction site on Halsey Street in Wynyard Quarter, central Auckland, early Aug. 26. Preliminary reports indicate at least five people have been injured; authorities have as yet not determined the cause of the blast.

Authorities have increased security measures in the surrounding area, including closing incoming road traffic toward Halsey Street. Localized transport disruptions will probably continue for hours after investigations conclude and responders depart the scene.
