Nigeria: Police Service Commission workers announce nationwide strike from Aug. 29
Police Service Commission workers announce nationwide strike in Nigeria from Aug. 29. Protests may occur.
Event
A union representing workers of the Police Service Commission (PSC) plans to launch an indefinite strike, Aug. 29, over a working condition dispute among other issues. The PSC is a civilian oversight body of the Nigerian Police Force (NPF). No protests have been announced; however, some gatherings are likely near PSC offices, NPF stations, and major government buildings, including in Abuja and Lagos.
Security personnel will likely deploy to any gathering sites. Ground travel delays may occur near protest sites. The provision of policing is unlikely to be impacted during the strike action. Some disruptions to administration services may occur.
Advice
Avoid all gatherings as a standard precaution. Reconfirm appointments with security establishment offices.
