Carnival celebrations will take place in Noumea Sept. 10. Officials say more than 20,000 people will attend the annual events. A parade will begin at Place Bir-Hakeim from 18:00 and travel to Place des Cocotiers.

Increased security is likely in central Noumea for the event. Authorities will probably close sections of roads along the parade route, including Avenue de la Victoire Henry Lafluer and Avenue du Marechal Foch. Officials will also reroute or shorten bus services on at least a dozen routes in the affected area. Additional localized transport disruptions are likely.
