The purpose of the action is to demand improved working conditions, including higher salaries for mechanics. The strike forced the airline to reschedule flights serving Papeete, French Polynesia, and Port-Vila, Vanuatu, Sept. 10. The action also reportedly resulted in the cancellation of a flight to Tokyo, Japan, Sept. 10.
