South Sudan: Authorities maintaining COVID-19-related domestic controls and travel restrictions as of Sept. 15 /update 23
Authorities in South Sudan maintaining COVID-19-related domestic controls and travel restrictions as of Sept. 15.
Event
As of Sept. 15, authorities are maintaining COVID-19-related restrictions.
Domestic Measures
There is no curfew in effect.
Preventive measures, including wearing protective facemasks and social distancing, are in place.
International Travel Restrictions
International flights are operating. All international travelers arriving at Juba International Airport (JUB) require authorization from South Sudan's National Taskforce before entry. Travelers must present either a COVID-19 vaccination certificate (completed at least two weeks before traveling) or a negative result from a COVID-19 test taken within 72 hours before arriving in South Sudan.
Travelers are exempt from quarantine if they have documentation of full COVID-19 vaccination or evidence of a positive PCR test result within the six months before travel. Individuals who present a negative PCR test certificate but are not fully vaccinated must quarantine for 10 days; they can undergo a PCR test on day five and exit quarantine on day seven if the test is negative. South Sudan's land borders are open; however, restrictions by neighboring countries have limited cross-border movement.
Authorities could reimpose, extend, further ease, or otherwise amend any restrictions with little-to-no notice depending on disease activity.
Advice
Confirm all planned travel arrangements. Plan accordingly for protracted commercial, transport, and logistics disruptions. Follow all official instructions. Abide by national health and safety measures. Consider delaying travel if experiencing symptoms associated with COVID-19, as they may prompt increased scrutiny and delays. Liaise with trusted contacts for further updates and guidance. Maintain contact with your diplomatic representation. Ensure contingency plans account for further disruptive measures or extensions of current restrictions. Reconsider and reconfirm nonemergency health appointments.
