The Marumalarchi Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (MDMK) party plans to protest at the Valluvar Kottam monument in Chennai, 16:00 Sept. 24. The action is to denounce Indian Home Minister Amit Shah for his praise of the Hindi language during an earlier ceremony. MDMK leaders claim his remarks are an attempt to popularize Hindi in place of other regional languages. A few dozen people are likely to participate; the event will almost certainly pass peacefully.
