Chad: Amendments to COVID-19 restrictions on international travel to enter into effect on Sept. 26 /update 46

Event

The government of Chad plans to implement a number of amendments to the nation's COVID-19-related international travel restrictions effective Sept. 26. Domestic measures will remain unchanged, however.

Domestic Measures
Social distancing measures, including restrictions on large gatherings, remain in place. Facemasks are mandatory in public spaces and during gatherings.

International Travel Restrictions
Effective Sept. 26, all incoming travelers must produce either a negative result from a PCR test taken within 72 hours prior to arrival, or a valid certificate of vaccination against COVID-19. Arriving passengers who are unable to produce either document must undergo testing upon entry at their own expense; it remains unclear whether such individuals will be required to self-isolate pending delivery of their test results.

All departing passengers must produce a negative result from a COVID-19 test validated by the airport's health team or a certificate of vaccination against COVID-19 which meets the destination country's requirements.

All travelers are required to wear facemasks. Land borders are open.

Failure to comply with directives will likely result in disciplinary action, including fines and possible incarceration. Authorities could impose additional restrictions based on disease activity in the coming days and weeks.
