Singapore: Authorities to close roads in Downtown Core through early Oct. 4 for Formula 1 Singapore Airlines Singapore Grand Prix 2022
Formula 1 Singapore Airlines Singapore Grand Prix 2022 to take place Sept. 30-Oct. 2. Plan for traffic disruptions likely Sept. 28-Oct. 4.
Event
The Formula 1 Singapore Airlines Singapore Grand Prix 2022 will take place in downtown Singapore Sept. 30-Oct. 2. Authorities will increase security and implement road closures in the downtown area Sept. 28-early Oct. 4 to manage the event.
Officials will close several roads to set up race infrastructure. Authorities will open sections of several affected roads, including Esplanade Drive, Nicoll Highway, Saint Andrew's Road, and Stamford Road, 05:30-10:00 through Sept. 29. A few roads will remain open during the morning rush hour Sept. 30. Officials will reopen affected routes gradually after the race ends, making them fully accessible by 05:30 Oct. 4.
Taxis can only pick up and drop off passengers in specific locations; event organizers urge people to use public transport. Operators have extended operating hours for public transport services through Oct. 3, though most buses will detour around the race area. Increased security is likely, and security checks are possible near the race venue, train stations, and popular tourist sites in downtown Singapore.
Advice
Allow additional time to reach downtown Singapore destinations through early October 4. Confirm all reservations, as hotel and transport services will be in high demand. Heed all advice of security personnel.
