Event
Supporters of prominent Shi'a cleric Muqtada al-Sadr are reportedly protesting in several areas of Baghdad Sept. 28. Protesters had initially gathered near Tahrir Square before moving to Tayran Square. Protesters are also gathering at Al-Jumariyah Bridge, near the Green Zone.
Increased security and localized transport disruptions are likely near protest sites. Clashes cannot be ruled out, particularly if activists become overly disruptive or refuse to heed security forces' orders. Security forces may deploy water cannons, tear gas, and other crowd control measures to disperse protesters.
