Informational

Event

Supporters of the Labour Party’s presidential candidate, Peter Obi, affiliated with the Lagos4ObiDatti civil society group will stage at least three rallies in Lagos from 07:30 Oct. 1. Participants will gather at the following locations:

  • FHA Field in the Festac area.

  • Lekki Phase 1 near the main gate.

  • Archbishop Vining Memorial Church in Ikeja.

  • Another related gathering is also possible in the Surulule area.

Authorities have ordered organizers to cancel the gathering scheduled at Lekki Phase 1; it is not clear if protesters will adhere to the ruling. An increased security presence and localized traffic disruptions are likely in the vicinity of all rallies. Clashes with security forces cannot be ruled out, particularly if participants gather in contravention of official orders. The threat of violence will increase if counter-rallies occur.

Advice

Avoid all gatherings and plan accordingly for ground travel disruptions if traveling via the affected areas. If violence erupts nearby, leave immediately. Heed the instructions of local authorities.
