Limited fuel shortages are occurring in Ho Chi Minh City as of Oct. 7. Petrol supplier COMECO has run out of fuel to sell to commuters due to scarcity and rising fuel prices. COMECO stations have reportedly run out of petrol in multiple areas of the city, including Districts 5 and 11, as well as in the Binh Thanh and Thu Duc City areas. Most other petrol suppliers continue to supply fuel as normal, though additional petrol station closures are possible in the coming days if the shortages and high prices continue. Increased demand is likely at stations still selling fuel; service delays are probable. Public transportation services may be affected.
Related protests are possible if higher fuel prices and shortages persist. The largest gatherings are likely to occur near government buildings, public squares, and major roadways, causing localized transport disruptions.
