Authorities in Guangdong Province are imposing tighter curbs in Huadu District in Guangzhou as of Oct. 14 due to COVID-19 concerns. Officials have suspended metro rail services at Huadu Square, Huaguoshan Park, and Huacheng Road stations. Bus stops south of Sandong Avenue, west of Fenghuang North Road, east of Guangzhou North Railway Station, and north of Huadu Lake have also been closed. Authorities have also closed several establishments, including entertainment venues, gyms, swimming pools, theaters, salons, and museums until further notice. Officials have also suspended dine-in services at snack and breakfast bars. Primary and secondary school in-person classes are suspended. The government is encouraging people to work from home.

Authorities are imposing tightened controls in some areas of Huadu District, including sections of Xinhua, Huacheng, and Xiuquan streets. Officials advise people who have visited Xinhua, Huacheng, and Xiuquan streets since Oct. 8 to undergo a COVID-19 test immediately. Officials will likely carry out several rounds of testing in the affected areas before easing restrictions.

Extensions of strict controls, such as stay-at-home orders and closure of nonessential businesses, are possible.
