San Marino: Labor unions call for nationwide strike, protest march in San Marino city Nov. 15
Labor unions call for strike and protest in San Marino Nov. 15. Heightened security, localized business and transport disruptions likely.
Event
Three labor unions, namely the San Marino Workers Union (Unione Sammarinese Lavoratori, USL), San Marino Confederation of Labor (Confederazione Sammarinese del Lavoro, CSDL), and the Democratic Confederation of San Marino Workers (Confederazione Democratica Lavoratori Sammarinesi, CDLS), have called for a nationwide strike Nov. 15. The action aims to demand pension reforms and to protest the rising cost of living. A motorcade will occur from the Multieventi Parking in Serravalle to the United Nations Square in San Marino City starting at 08:00. Protesters will then gather at the United Nations Square from 09:30 before commencing a march at 10:00 through the city center toward Liberty Square, where they plan to demonstrate during the General Council meeting. Hundreds to several thousand people could attend the action.
Heightened security, as well as localized business and transport disruptions, are likely Nov. 15. While the demonstration will probably pass peacefully, minor skirmishes between police and protesters remain possible.
Advice
Avoid the demonstration as a precaution. Allow additional time to reach destinations near the affected locations Nov. 15. Reconfirm business appointments.
