Western Europe: Activists to demonstrate regionwide, Sept. 28
Abortion rights activists to protest across Western Europe Sept. 28. Heightened security, localized transport disruptions likely.
Abortion rights activists plan to protest across Western Europe Sept. 28. The demonstrations are meant to coincide with International Safe Abortion Day. Demonstrations are planned in urban centers across the region. The largest gatherings will likely take place in the following locations:
Berlin: Protest march from Leopoldplatz to the Comfort Women Memorial on Birkenstrasse 16:00-20:00.
Brussels: St. Michael and St. Gudula Cathedral from 14:30.
Madrid: Protest march from Glorieta de Ruiz Jimenez to Plaza del Callao from 18:00.
Paris: Port-Royal from 14:30.
Heightened security and localized transport disruptions are likely near all protest sites. Low-level confrontations between demonstrators, law enforcement officers, or ideologically opposed individuals cannot be ruled out.
Avoid all protest areas as a standard precaution. Allow additional time if traveling near demonstration sites. Strictly heed all instructions from law enforcement officers. Immediately depart the area at the first sign that any security disturbance may occur.
