Panama: Police rescue recently abducted foreign national in La Chorrera Nov. 28

Event

On Nov. 28, Panamanian police rescued a Chinese national businessman who had been kidnapped three days earlier in the area of El Espino, La Chorrera, Panama Oeste province. Officers arrested four suspects in the operation, all of whom were also of Asian ethnicity with one being a Panamanian passport holder. The suspects had been demanding a ransom of USD 100,000 for the victim's release.

The risk of kidnapping in Panama remains moderate; most victims of kidnapping are Panamanian citizens.
