Activists plan to protest in multiple cities Dec. 11 to commemorate Human Rights Day and denounce the alleged deteriorating human rights situation in the country. Hundreds to thousands of individuals could attend the demonstrations. Organizers have announced gatherings at the following locations:

  • Beni Mellal: Outside the regional headquarters from 15:30

  • Casablanca: Near the Sidi Bernoussi Youth Club from 17:00

  • Marrakesh: Outside Maroc Telecom from 17:00

Increased security and localized transport disruptions are likely near gathering sites through late Dec. 11. Clashes between protesters and security forces cannot be ruled out, particularly if demonstrators are overly disruptive or ignore police orders to disperse.
